How to fix Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge screen flickering issue, display goes black and white

Galaxy S7 Edge screen started to flicker without apparent reason

Problem: I have a galaxy s7 edge and yesterday it started to flicker when i turn it on, when this happens in my phone you see like 3 stripe white lines and then it turns yellow, but the phone still works and i can even scroll through the apps,i do not know what i can do. Is there a fix to this?

Solution: If your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge had not been dropped or has liquid damage then most likely your device has a firmware related issue. In fact, lots of reports we received from our readers saying that after the firmware update the device screen started to flicker without apparent reason. However, since we don’t really know what caused the issue the best thing that you should do is to isolate the problem by performing the basic troubleshooting procedures. Here are the steps that you need to follow:

Step 1: Restart your phone to Safe mode to determine if there were apps triggered it

By booting your phone in Safe mode your device will run all the pre-installed apps in the system and will disable all downloaded applications. So, while in this mode try to observe your device if the issue persists. If not, then most likely a third-party app  caused the problem you can uninstall it and see if the problem will occur again.

1. Press and hold the Power key.
2. As soon as you can see the ‘Samsung Galaxy S7 EDGE’ on the screen, release the Power key and immediately hold the Volume Down key.
3. Continue holding the Volume Down button until the device finishes rebooting.
4. You may release it when you can see ‘Safe mode’ in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Step 2: Delete the System cache of the phone for it might be corrupted

7. Now highlight the option ‘Yes’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.
8. Wait until your phone is finished wiping the cache partition. Once completed, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press the Power key.
9. The phone will now reboot longer than usual.

So, while in this mode and the issue remained, then you can jump to the next procedure.

Step 4: Perform Master reset to your Galaxy S7 Edge

Before giving a conclusion to the issue the last thing that you can do is to perform a reset on your device. Most of the time, by simply bringing back the device to its factory default may fixed different types of issues like what you have right now. But take note that all your files on your phone will be deleted once you will perform this procedure. So, make sure to backup everything.

1. Backup your data.
2. Remove your Google account.
3. Disengage screen lock.
4. Turn off your Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
5. Press and then hold the Home and Volume UP keys, then press and hold the Power key.

NOTE: It doesn’t matter how long you press and hold the Home and Volume Up keys, it won’t affect the phone but by the time you press and hold the Power key, that’s when the phone starts to respond.

NOTE: The “Installing system update” message may show on the screen for several seconds before displaying the Android system recovery menu. This is just the first phase of the entire process.

1. Using the Volume Down key, navigate through the options and highlight ‘wipe data / factory reset.’
2. Once highlighted, you may press the Power key to select it.
3. Now highlight the option ‘Yes — delete all user data’ using the Volume Down key and press the Power button to select it.
4. Wait until your phone is finished doing the Master Reset. Once completed, highlight ‘Reboot system now’ and press the Power key.
5. The phone will now reboot longer than usual

But if all procedures may not worked on your phone then you can bring your Galaxy S7 Edge to the nearest shop in your area to be checked by the technician.

Galaxy S7 Edge screen went black and white like in Ultra Power Saving Mode

Problem: My girlfriend screen on her s7 edge went black and white and when i go in her setting it’s like her phone is in ultra power-saving mode but it’s not cant get into any of the system settings at all.
